Brecken Chinn Swartz, Ph.D.
Executive Director
Brecken Chinn Swartz, Ph.D., has served as the Executive Director of HandReach since its founding in 2002. With an academic and professional career in communication, international affairs, and educational development, her dream is to bring the best hands in the world together to address the devastating loss of human capital caused by untreated trauma injuries. Dr. Swartz finds her greatest inspiration in her adopted daughter Zhou Lin, who at age 11 survived an explosion that nearly cost her legs and hands. Zhou Lin, a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD, has now fully recovered and assists with HandReach's work in China.

Lingling Zhang , M.S.
Vice Director
Lingling Zhang is an IT professional with a passion for and belief in nonprofit causes. She has been an advocate and supporter of HandReach's mission and programs since its beginning years. She is currently studying Nonprofit Management at George Mason University, and wishes to contribute her knowledge and skills to the further development of HandReach.

Qi McIntosh
China Project Coordinator
Born and raised in Beijing China, Qi has built a successful software development career with companies such as DEC, Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Calling Massachusetts home for the past 13 years, Qi considers herself a lucky wife and mother and, through her deep dedication to HandReach, strives to pass on her good fortune by enriching the life of wounded children. |

Jessica Robertson
Program Coordinator
Jessica first became involved with Team HandReach during her undergraduate study at the University of Maryland - College Park. Jessica began working full-time for HandReach in September 2010 as its primary grantwriter, event organizer, and resident "ball-catcher." She looks forward to a time and place when medical care, rehabilitation therapy, and psychosocial support are readily provided to the children who need it most.

Joonkee"Joseph" Yoon
Beat Brigade Coordinator
As someone who has an interest in medicine and health care, Joseph believes that giving those in unfortunate circumstances the practical help they need is crucial in promoting medical and ethical development around the world. His past experiences help him sympathize with traumatized or injured individuals who need treatment that is out of reach. His goal is simple: to be able to reach out his hand for someone else to grab.

Jeanne Harran
Web Developer
As the newest edition to the team, Jeanne is working to effectively communicate Handeach's mission and goals on the organization's website. She completed her Bachelor's of Industrial Design from Syracuse University in 2009; focusing her thesis work on understanding the challenges that people with disabilities face everyday living in an able bodied society.

Xiaodong Ouyang
China Family Care Coordinator
As China Family Care Coordinator, Ouyang has been working with HandReach since the founding of the Children's Healing Initiative in 2007. Ouyang is an experienced translator, logistical coordinator, and guide who has helped HandReach's children overcome many difficult obstacles. He continues to work with numerous development projects that affect a range of China's poorest children.

Jomy Pidiath
Jomy is a volunteer with Handreach helping in fundraising and new donor development efforts. He is currently a Principal at Aglaia Technologies LLC, an independent technology consulting practice serving large corporate clients in various market segments. Jomy holds an MBA from Cornell University, Postbaccalaureate in Business from Columbia University and a Bachelors of Engineering from SSCOET, Jalgaon - India.

Julian Thake
Julian is a retired schools administrator and who spent the greater part of his career arranging education for kids with all kinds of special needs. He believes very strongly that we are all part of one another, and helping HandReach is a great way of putting that belief into practice
